
First Street
Welcome to First Street on the Santa Ana River bicycle trail.
Half way between mile markers 8 and 9 on the Santa Ana River Trail, and about a 51 minute ride from the beginning of the Santa Ana River bicycle trail in Huntington Beach, when going the 10 m.p.h. speed limit that are posted on signs for the river trail. 8.5 miles North on the river trail is the First Street entry point in the City of Santa Ana. The bridge and street were under construction, and both are now completed, you can see the new asphalt joined in with the existing asphalt on the side paths leading to the street from the trail. There was one lane on each side of the street added, but not a striped bike lane, on either side.
The next entry point going North is Fifth Street, in the City of Santa Ana, and is .3 miles and a minute away. The next entry point going South is Mc Fadden Avenue, which is .6 miles and about 3 minutes of a bike ride away.
You can go East on First Street through the City of Santa Ana for .3 miles for about a minute, then you'll see on one corner of the street an ice cream parlor, Mexican food, Seafood, liquor store and other shops. Another .7 miles and about an 8 minute ride more on First Street, then going North on Flower for a minute, you will begin to see Downtown Santa Ana, which is the county seat of Orange County. There you can find all the county, state and federal government buildings.
Heading West on First Street, going through the City of Santa Ana, .6 miles and a 3 minute bike ride off the exit will take you to Harbor Boulevard. On one of the corners, you can find a Northgate Market, Burger King, Subway, and other shops. Across the street from that is an El Pollo Loco.

The closest parking lot by the Santa Ana River Trail, in this area, is North 1.6 miles and an 8 minute ride, with it being located at Edna Park. You can go to Mc Fadden Avenue and then across the Santa Ana River, by that park, might be some parking. For a significant amount of parking you can go South for 1.4 miles, for 7 minute ride at Centennial Park.
